Motherhood Musings

Be seen in the photographs they have from their childhood.

When I was pregnant with the twins and my daughters were only 4 months old and 1 year old. I was told by other parents who had multiples that once the boys were born I wouldn’t remember the next 2-3 years.

This terrified me.

I’m someone who tries to hold on to every moment. The thought of not remembering my babies while they are the littlest brought me an incredible amount of sadness. I decided I would fight to be the exception. I would remember.

My twins just turned 3.

The last 3 years have been an incredible whirlwind of chaos and beauty…. but….

Honestly, I don’t remember it.

I find myself flipping through photographs that I took on my phone, feeling both grateful and sadness for these images. Disbelief that so much time has gone by so quickly but so incredibly grateful that at some point I thought to snap the few pictures that I did.

But the ones that are the best…

The ones that give me a sigh of relief but are even fewer in number… are the ones that I am in. The ones my husband took of me looking an exhausted mess with my squishy postpartum body and greasy mom bun, giving comfort to 4 wildly beautiful humans. Because it’s proof that I was there and proof of what kept me going in the craziest season of motherhood thus far.

MOMMA…. take the pictures. GET IN THE PICTURES.

For the sake of these beautiful little souls that are entrusted to you… be seen in the photographs they have from their childhood.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Alissa

At home in a small Michigan town near the lake — raising four beautiful, wild-hearted kids and holding close to the fleeting moments that matter most.

Life around here is a little loud, a little messy, and with a lot of love — and that’s exactly what draws me to photography. I’ve spent over 16 years capturing connection, chaos, calm, and everything in between… Because it’s not the big milestones we ache for — it’s the quiet, constant things woven into them.
